View Full Version : Congrats to Wes and Carl
I couldn't find another thread on this, just wanted to congratulate Wes for winning GS and Carl for winning DS and overall at the 2008 Canadian National Autoslalom Championships in PEI.
Well done boys!
Tom
PS If I missed anyone else who went, my apologies.
Thanks Tom. We (Mark G and I) brought a knife to a gun fight (Toyo's when everyone else was on Hoosiers) and still kicked ass! Unfortunately Mark didn't get a time in on Saturday, even though he was told he had a time for his first run.
We got one dry run on both days and rain for the other three each day. The gods were on my side!
A big thanks to Mark for the ride!

Thanks Tom!!
Yeah not much hype about the CAC this year. i think many of the big guns in the big classes stayed home.
Wes did a great job shutting down my buddy Alan from the states in GS. I told Alan that Wes would be dangerous!!
Thanks Carl. Alan did say he had heard a lot about me (which baffled me...., who am I????).
You and Bruno both drove the wheels (well tire surface anyway) off the Type R. Congrats!
Too bad the even had so many.... "issues". Great venue! Friendly people and good competition. On day one the top five in GStock was separated by a couple of tenths and the top two by 0.019 seconds. Too bad we didn't get a run at pax because of the rain, one dry run a day just ain't enough to beat pax.

Congrats Wes and Carl.
So Wes, I guess you're getting used to Mark's Si, eh? :)
Nice work, boys! I wouldn't have thought there was a parking lot in PEI big enough for an event like this. I stand corrected!

This "lot" is a airport taxi way. It is a concrete slab of which we used 300m x 700m of space..... very cool.
I have driven at Corel, Forbes field (Topeka), HPT ( Topeka), PMG and Grissom Airfield (concrete and big) Peru....and I can say that Slemon Park has them beat...all of them....

Yeah Slemon is a great piece of land. Really sticky surface too, it's a concrete/asphalt mix. Mind you it's not terribly wide but wide enough to create some nice long courses even with a little elevation change too.
But yes, the organizers always seem to be scrambling. Shame to hear about the weather. Nice job on the wins.

Taylor- You've been there? when?

Carl: Umm.. 2002, 2003.. maybe 01 too.
After numerous Tdot to Halifax drives between 00 and 02 I vowed to never do the drive again. :) In 03 flew in and drove Gords terribly classed civic (I think he put delSol seats in and that's what made us DSS. :) for the Easterns, I think I won the class too... with dead brakes. Pretty sure I've been there 3 times, but I suppose it's possible just the two times. 01-03 in motorsport is a blur to me I did so many events. :)
Ryan was looking to take the miata up for nationals this year and I was gonna go and share expenses/co-drive but I guess neither of us was really gung-ho enough to make it happen. I'm so rusty anyhow... if I go, it'd be to kick-ass since PEI really isn't on the way to anywhere.

OK. I guess it being my first time, I am really not a good reference on who has been and who has not.
It would have been nice to see you and Ryan make the trip, but your right, PEI is not on the way to anywhere, but it does make a good first stop if you you want to visit Gaspesie afterwards...thats what I did.
