Going to be road racing my 96 GSR soon. Wondering what grade of oil to use. It is a B18C1 with type R pistons, cams, S2 intake, stock clearances when rebuilt. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks.

A decent quality synthetic like Mobil1 or Castrol Syntec in a 5w30 variety should do the trick, though if you want to spend more for a bit better high temp performance go for Motul in a 5w40 or a similar ester-based full synthetic.

A baffled oil pan is a more important investment than fancy oil for these engines though. As long as you have fresh oil in the engine, have it top up at least to the full mark, and have a baffled pan, the motor should live a good long life at the track.

Mugen makes a good pan, but I've recently switched to a Morosso Road Race pan - has 6 gates, lots of baffling but more importanly, it holds an extra L of oil. High G long sweeping corners will kill your bearings. Far more important than your oil. Run Dyno oil most of the time and change it more often. Of the syn oil, I like Castrol.
