Wow!! Very nice quality shots. Is this with a GoPro only or did you use two different cameras? I really like the High-Quality version :D

All done with the GoPro Motorsport Hero Cam. Gotta love the suction cup mount, it mounts almost anywhere, including the side of your helmet.....

Good stuff, Wes! (love the 'bitterman' tag, btw).

The video quality is quite nice, but have you found the sound quality recorded by the GoPro camera to be as useless as I have? I've tried all the different audio settings on the camera but the sound is just horrible regardless. But Karl from Compass360 has used these cameras and recorded some decent sound. From what he was telling me the other day, apparently some cameras record sound pretty well and others not so much. It seems to be a very hit or miss prospect, but I guess that's to be expected from a budget camera like this.

Good stuff, Wes! (love the 'bitterman' tag, btw).

Thanks.

I was called a bitter, bitter man by a couple of my favourite people and thought this is a fitting tag. Because I am bitter! Life sucks most of the time and then you grow older only to look back at all the bullshit in your life and it bitters you even more. Wait for it Pratte, your almost there!:) The way I have come to see the world in out times is being a total asshole gets things done a lot faster than being nice about it. Who needs bridges anyway!

The sound quality does indeed suck but the right placement of the camera will allow some great sound, it's just a little subdued. Using normalzation helps raise the levels to acceptable.

Haha...a very healthy philosophy, my bitter friend :p

I always normalize the audio for car-related videos, but haven't been able to do anything with the GoPro audio, which is just static and wind noise for me. Where are you placing yours to get "good but subdued" audio? I haven't use mine for anything in-car, so maybe that's the trick. But then for me, the only advantage of a GoPro is that I can mount it in silly places on the exterior of the car for some unique angles, since I've got better options for in-car video anyway (Chase cam, HD camcorders, etc.). So I think the only real use I'll have for the GoPro is as PIP footage or cut footage for the occasional interesting exterior view with sound overlaid from the in-car camera.

I have found that somewhere at the front of the car outside of the majority of airflow over the front of the car works. So does fairly low behind the front wheel on the front fender. Both spots produced lots of engine noise. The fender does produce clicks when rubber chunks and stones hit the camera casing though....

You are using it with the low audio setting? I find at the normal setting there is soooooo much annoying static that I have to mute it. With the low setting once you normalize it it's usually not to bad. In car has very little useful audio, unless you have the tunes just cranked! :)
