Hey guys,

Got an email from Jeff Wenzel from TireCraft and asked me to pass along this deal for you. Might be a great street tire to run in sprints, lapping, summer, etc. Martin ran them on his miata for a few HADA autoXs and they were a lot of fun - no RA1, but still a lot of fun on the street. Awesome price too!

Here's his message:

If possible I'd like you to pass on a special to your members? Currently in stock 225/50R15 Toyo T1S shaved to 4/32nds (brand new) HADA members $60.00 each installed. These would be great for lapping, solo, drifting etc.We also have 18'' in stock.

Thanks ,
Jeff Wenzel

Call him. Says he has 40 of the 225s.

That's a great deal! The T1S has been discontinued for over a year now, probably closer to two years. They're probably getting rid of old stock, and at that price they're really giving their customers a great deal. I'm sure those were $200/each brand new, not even shaved!

Anyone know what the treadwear rating on this tire is? 100?

Published it's 280, but from a review I read said it might have been overstated by a bit. From AutoX them 3 times in the summer, they've shown wear, but not tons of it. Shaving is definitely good, since they chunked a bit fresh.

Its a "140 or higher" tire.

These must be left over from when World Challenge used to run them a few years back... can't think of any other reason they'd be shaved. Still a pretty sweet deal but I'm betting all the date codes are from '03 or '04.

I've asked jeff for production dates to end the speculating. :)

Todd's right. All have been shaved in the last 8 months. Here's his reply:

Production dates are 2002 and up! Not super fresh, not too old, and they were shaved within the last eight months.

These could definitely be cool for the new pip rules for street tires in solosprint (they don't say anything about shaving do they???)

Shaving IS permitted in the 2008 Solosprint tire rules.
