I'm looking to put something on the STOOK in the next little while and was wondering if anybody in the club had a good experience with a shop in the GTA (pref. for West End) or have advice on the matter? rough idea on pricing? Any club sponsor’s perform this work?

From some quick googling Auto-links has some decent reviews from the Toronto Subby forum and Audio Heaven seems to be well talked about. Comments?

With any luck the tint will make this a little less obvious... :o

Wouldn't you prefer to be able to see out of the car a little bit better, especially when using it for motorsports?

One of the first things I did after buying my used R was rip out all of the tint that it had from the previous owner.

A light tint (35% or so) won't really affect the driver's visibility but I'd think twice about it because if you're gonna be at the track you want other drivers to see any wave by's (or other gestures) and if it was ever to become a race car you'd be required to take it off.

I can vouch for Jeff at Audio Heaven. I've personally never had tint done (had several alarms, though) but it's his customer service, warranty, and the quality of his work that will keep me going back to him. I know several others that can vouch the same.

As far as tints go, I know a few people that had their cars done by AH - no complaints so far.

No real racing plans for this car except lapping. From what I gather 35% on the sides should not impede vision, I still need to see what 20% on the rear will look like and if it is reasonable.

FWIW: I had Tint King in Mississauga tint my first car back in '00 and they did a great job. They used quality tint that did not turn purple even after 5 years of owning it, never had an air bubble, and they even gave me a ride to work when I dropped the car off to get the work done. The price was very reasonable too.

As a TCC exclusive tint service, Jeff Try at Audio Heaven does top notch work. Great customer service and friendly crew.

I would give them a try.

I've seen sub $150 jobs come out with bubbling, especially around rear defroster wires. High end price I've heard is $325 for four windows + rear + "sun visor" on front. I'd only get a 3M or equivalent film quoted if you're going to own the car more than 3 years. Cheap films turn purple with time. (I bought a car with cheap tint a few years back. Blech.)

Apparently metallic films interfere with AM reception if you have an integrated rear antenna and are in need of AM 680 for traffic reports.
