I'm a bit concerned about Jays Integra at Calabogie. It has the JDM K-series 2.0L which is all stock internally, right now with a DC race header, Magnaflow highflow cat, and then the OEM Integra LS setup from the cat-back.
This is nice and quiet, but its choking the crap out of the motor.. it only dyno'd at 178whp. Now we have a Skunk2 system that I want to put on, its a 2.75" with a resonator and a straight through muffler, and we'd still be using the highflow cat.
When I listen to other K powered cars they're pretty loud... but I don't have time to install this exhaust, test it, then remove it if its too loud, all before next weekend... since theres a huge ass list of other stuff I need to get done on both my car and his car still.
If you guys were in my position, and from hearing other members K powered cars, would you suggest that we use the stock garbage crap LS Integra exhaust for TRAC, or put on our sweetness Skunk2 setup?
This is what Jays car currently sounds like WOT with the stock exhaust:

For stock-to-modified comparision, this is a vid I found of the 4 door Si that Tods team runs, down the same straight at Mosport:

What does everyone think I should do? The only thing though, if we take a chance and it is too loud, is there anything we can do on the spot to make it quieter?

Oh I forgot, it also has a silencer too.. not sure how effective those are, but ya, just thought i'd mention it!

Chris,
It's a school! the last few horsepower will not matter.
you'll have time to try and test before the real season begins.

Chris - I have the Skunk2 - 70mm cat back exhaust with the resonator on the B pipe and tested it from 15' behind the car [Type R]. It is VERY LOUD!! 112 db and 103 db max. with the silencer insert which gave me a massive drop in horse power[17hp] at 6500rpm and a drop of 15ft-lbs of torque at the same rpm. This is more than a flat spot! At the top end my power dropped 3whp over the clean exhaust. Since the Calabogie limit from the rear or front is 100db average this system is way over the top! [3db = double the sound].
So for Calabogie,Dunnsville,TMP,DDT@Mosport and maybe Shannonville I will use my Mugan twinn loop [90db] and unlease the loud F#*ker on the big track at Mosport. The other problem I had with the Skunk2, it is about 5" longer at the Cat end so a stock cat will not fit. I had a custom test pipe made which is only 5" long, [my header is also longer than stock]
On the Mugan which is stock length I had another test pipe made that is 10" long. A lot of messing around!

I just read over the sounds limits and I think I'm in trouble lol. There's no way my car is under 104db at redline.

Shane - I know you're right, the exhaust is just sitting here looking at me, so I felt inclined to ask.. lol :)
Andy - Thanks for the input, you completely answered everything... we'll definitely use the stock one for TRAC, that saves me a bit of time as well too. I read that a lot of people found that it hung lower than necessary, is that something you noticed too?
Mark - I'll post the vid of your car on youtube when I get back to my other computer, lol

The Sunk2 was a good fit, not low at all. The resonator on the Mugan is very big, I have 3.5" clearance with the stock suspension. It will be interesting to see what I have when Turtle slaps on the Koni's, the car will be about 1-1.5" lower.

Hmmm. Try installing a turbo before Calabogie. ;)
340chp, 375ctq with a 3" exhaust... 82dB at 15 feet (as measured at TMP.) Won't even interrupt a conversation.
I had been asking around about silencers, but i couldn't get any feedback. Do you have a picture of one, and an easy source for them? Are they a quick install if i need one?
Do they measure 100dB average at redline? I was testing my car with "Max hold" so it was reading the highest possible dB.
