Thank you, Stephen (as well as the OMSC and SPDA crew), for running a really smooth event. I had a really good time, learned a few new things, and definitely got more comfortable with my car and driving.

We'll see you on the 24th/25th.

I'm just glad that Kim didn't hurt my wheels when she went off...

and that she's ok of course...

Haha...

Yeah, the event was great. That's my third time to the spring school. I think i'll instruct next year :)

Thanks to everyone that helped me go fast, and thanks to everyone that helped me keep going fast after my power steering line popped. The new car is tons of fun :)

Extra thanks to everyone that organized it! Good class sessions, good flow, and I liked the "help us improve next year's school" attitude!

So.... speaking of Solosprint... I don't know if Kim was distracted by the hot guy in the Porsche or was just trying to clean up my wheels to hide the damage but apparently she missed the class on "classing your car". Can someone help us figure this out? I haven't had 2 spare minutes to go through that section of the rule book (and it's kinda foggy to me because of the swap) we don't HAVE to dyno and weigh this thing do we?

Car's a 2000 Si-R with an ITR engine, springs and rear bar and Koni yellows.

I understand the tire thing, we'll be running my old RA-1's (for now anyway).

You don't have to dyno weigh the car, but you'll find it will put you down at least a class. Well worth it IMO.

^^ You can class your car in about 10 minutes on this site.

The thing about classing a car with a swap is that 'spec' power and weight are usually high on the HP and low on the weight - that means you are classed up a level 99% of the time. Springs and shocks are also gonna bump you a class - but the RA1s will drop you back down 1 too. When you do the weight and dyno option, you don't need to worry about adding any PIPs for engine and body mods - only suspension. If the car had a stock sway-bar, leave it alone. adding or removing sways (or changing the size of an existing one) will bump you a few points as well.

Tod, I also assumed that you were probably running a non-stock alignment with those springs. If that's not the case, you will class lower.

Your car starts at GT4 with 63.1 PIP's

Your suspension (Sway, Springs, Shocks, Non-Stock Alignment) brings you up to 71.5 in GT2.

If I was wrong, and you have stock alignment, you're in GT2 at 70.7.

Stock, your car allegedly had 160CHP, and a wet curb weight of 2605.84 lbs. (Don't know where that .84 comes from!!?)

Worst case scenario, 71.5 in GT2 with suspension, with a USDM 2001 ITR engine rated at 195CHP, you're in GT1 at 78.6. That's the same class as Luca's old car. If you run non-premium R's, you'd be in GT2 where Joe T will run this year, and where the Presswoods ran last year in their Mustang.

I have stock alignment, so it looks like I am in GT2......... either way it looks like I'm gonna get my butt kicked! lol Thanks for all the help guys!

keep in mind that 'stock alignment' means stock camber, etc - not that you haven't changed it. If the car is lowered, it is non-stock as a result of the lowering.

Based on those numbers, consider the dyno and weight option as it is likely to lower your actual crank hp and increase your car's weight.

if camber-correcting parts are used, then the lowering does not cause "non-stock alignment" pip.

I'm in GT2, too. Looks like its going to be a very fun class.

It's not "really" lowered, just has ITR springs in it... Alignment is pretty well within stock specs.
