Would you guys let one of these "cars" run at one of your auloslalom events?

According to the CASC-OR rulebook:
5.1. Basic Vehicle Eligibility
To qualify to be eligible to compete in an Autoslalom event in Ontario, each vehicle must comply with the following minimum requirements:
Have a minimum wheelbase (measured between front and rear wheel centers) of 152 cm (60 inches), a minimum front and rear track of 107 cm (42 in.), and a minimum wheel diameter of 25.4 cm (10 in.)
Be propelled by its own means, running on at least four wheels not aligned, which must always be in contact with the ground, when the vehicle is stationary; the steering must be ensured by at least two wheels and the propulsion by at least two of the wheels;
Have a braking system that works on all four wheels simultaneously;
Have a structure and bodywork that surrounds and protects the driver at least to their waist level when seated in his normal driving position;
It must use only hydrocarbon based gasoline, diesel fuel, some gasoline/electric hybrids and some electric vehicles. It must use only fuels approved by Transport Canada for use in production consumer vehicles.
Oxygen or nitrogen bearing additives are not permitted (no Nitrous Oxide).
So no, I wouldn't let it run since it doesn't meet the requirements set out by CASC-OR.

Okay, that's good to hear. A guy showed up to our event on Sunday in one and wanted to run. We didn't let him due to the rule you just highlighted.
He said that at the last HADA event, he asked about bringing his T-Rex out, and apprently someone said that it was okay. I didn't really think that you guys would make that mistake...but I figured I'd check just in case.
We wish we could have let him run. He was talking smack...and we really wanted to "beat up" on him.
Hmmm. I can sort of see what they were wanting to do with the rule, but I don't actually see any problem with that car running. I don't think it's going to flip over or anything. I think CASC-OR needs to get with the times.

Based on the photo, it looks like it violates that rule as well.

I think this rule also prevents the T-Rex from running:
Have a structure and bodywork that surrounds and protects the driver at least to their waist level when seated in his normal driving position
I don't see the T-Rex being unsafe to run at an autoslalom event...but rules are rules I guess.

I don't recall being asked that question. If I did, I could have been mistaken for an Atom, but I don't remember being asked about either.

The car is probably safe to drive in this setting, however, we have to follow the rules for insurance and liability purposes. Otherwise, it would be funny to see this guy get smacked around. :D

"which must always be in contact with the ground"
That part of the rule would punt Mr Birch and many many civics ;)

..."when the vehicle is stationary"
else every Gulf would be out, too.

I would suggest that if the question was put to CASC-OR, they may be willing give this vehicle special dispensation. Rules are sometimes flexible. I wouldn't have any issues driving the above mentioned vehicle at a SOLO 2, in fact back in 2000 a number of them did a Ontario/Quebec SOLO 1 event. Fast in a straight line, not so much in the corners if I recall correctly. They are capable vehicles and most likely plenty of fun to drive.

IIRC, the programs that first covered them said they can pull 1.1g in stock form. The problem would be owner courage and the question... does it SLIDE or ROLL after you exceed 1.1g?
my question would be, does it spin if my 1 rear tires hits a pebble when I'm doing 130 pulling 1.1g's.

I wonder if Miles would be able to one-wheel it...

Maybe you should look into chopping one of the rear wheels off your car?
:)

hmmm... the weight saving possibilities...
I think I have enough issue with the back end coming around as it is. I've had to be very gentle with it to ensure the rounded end stays in front.
